Build an Effective Edinburgh West Park and Ride and a Station for Rath Station

Park and ride for Ratho Station

There is no effective park and ride for traffic coming into Edinburgh from the West. The Uphall park and ride is close to full, there is no park and ride coming in from the M9 and the Ingleston/Hermiston park, and rides are only served by “stop everywhere” services. Accessing the Hermiston park and ride also contributes to Hermiston Gait congestion. A solution to this would be to build a park and ride near Ratho Station with a station to serve the A8 and M8. A ‘fast’ service into Edinburgh should then be provided with one stop at Edinburgh Park to connect with the Tram. This would take advantage of existing rail infrastructure and services, relieving congestion at Hermiston Gait.
