Contactless Payment on Buses

Make bus travel easier and more appealing by introducing contactless payment

Its 2017, nearly 2018 – its time bus companies invested to facilitate contactless card payment. Needing the exact fare in coins – as is required on Lothian Buses – is neither practical or consumer-friendly; their mobile app is also particularly un user-friendly. Look to cities like Copenhagen which offer an integrated travel network focused towards cashless payment in multiple forms (yet still give change for cash transactions). It needs to be made as easy as possible to access and pay for our valuable public transport; the current exact coin payment currently on offer discourages occasional users such as myself. The quicker and easier people can jump on the buses, the sooner we can get them out of their cars and free up valuable space for pedestrians and cyclists.
