The ‘Idaho Law’ in use in Idaho, Paris, Holland and other forward thinking countries with a high cycling uptake allows people on bikes to treat red lights as giveaways (as a number already do) because its safer to ride in between the traffic flows rather than be caught in the drag race. Legalising this gives motorists one less thing to be angry at people on bikes for, as is often used in the media along with the imaginary road tax. It also helps traffic flow as more cars get through in the traffic light cycle as no bikes are waiting at the front and pulling away slowly. It reallly is a win-win and easily implemented.
