Green active travel routes intentionally seek to align transport infrastructure (pedestrian and cycle routes) and green infrastructure (like street trees, parks, playing fields, woodlands, other natural areas and water systems) together to create attractive places and journeys for people. This approach makes the most of transport or greening budgets and assets to deliver better health and air quality, and improve biodiversity and our resilience to climate change.
