The current image of a bunch of people riding around on bikes that car free days have doesn’t foster economic confidence from retail. If we use baseline data from days where traffic has been removed from the city centre, to facilitate events for example, and compare this to an average day where vehicles are allowed in, we can show that fewer cars in the city makes the air cleaner. This healthier environment message is used to justify car free days and encourage people into the city. Everyone is happy, not just the cyclists.
