The UK is significantly behind other nations when it comes to people working from home. If we got to the same percentage as other nations that could mean 10% fewer cars, less busy public transport, less spending on infrastructure and less CO2 emissions overall. This could also help ease the strain on some members of society by providing better opportunities for single parents, better opportunities for disabled people and better opportunities for people in remote communities. This can result in a better balance of work and home life and make it easier to recruit rather than relying on everyone living within commuting distance. It’s better for people, better for business, better for cities, better for equality and better for the environment. Overall, the roads are freed up for the people who genuinely need them and public transport is less congested. What’s not to like?
